BENEFITS OF BEING ACTIVE - be active Tip No. 1
Physical inactivity and obesity are significant community health problems. Unless we become more physically active, Australians will continue to suffer lifestyle diseases associated with physical inactivity. The good news is that being active does not have to be difficult, boring or take up lots of time.
There are many potential benefits of being active regularly. They include:
- Improved self image and self esteem.
- Better sleep, lower stress and anxiety levels and reduced feelings of depression.
- Decreased likelihood of developing heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, prostate and breast cancer.
- Improved blood pressure, cholesterol levels and aerobic fitness.
- Social benefits to the community such as stronger social ties within community groups, better family relationships, and a decrease in anti-social behaviour.
Get started on some regular physical activity today; combined with healthy eating, you’re on the path to a healthier, happier you!
Visit www.beactive.com.au for more information.
Governance Review
As a funding requirement of the Office for Recreation and Sport, SASRAPID has undergone a Governance Review. Whilst the review was successful, there is always room for improvement and the SASRAPID Board of Directors and Staff will endeavour to work towards the recommendations as suggested by the consultant.
